Update January 2020

BROADWAY GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE

 Update January 2020

Continuing on from December last year, the Earthworks operations have gradually progressed, with further material being placed to further construct the embankment of the new Spine Road to its eventual interconnection with Broadway.

Recent adverse weather has intermittently affected progress of this work in the period.

Traffic management in the form of cones, barriers, signage etc  was successfully installed on Broadway A663 on  the 6th January 2020 and will continue to be maintained 24 hours a day by a site team. The Traffic Management proposals have been developed in conjunction with the various regulatory bodies including Highways England, OMBC, the Police and Fire Service

The placing of the traffic management his enabled the next phasing of the works to progress as planned.

Currently Broadway is temporarily restricted down to 3 lane running and only the East side footpath is open during this phase of works. Apologies for any unavoidable disruption caused.

On the West Side of Crossley Bridge Hard Landscaping works have progressed on the footpath as part of the new proposed junction alterations. Some of this work will gradually combine with temporary kerb lines to facilitate temporary running lanes for Broadway traffic.

All of the existing kerb lines and barriers have been removed to make way for the new layout.

New replacement pedestrian and vehicle barriers will be installed as required to the reflect the new layout in due course.

On the East side of Crossley bridge works to are now complete to construct the RC Concrete service trough and associated transition RC concrete slabs., this will enable the Service diversions to be carried out.

Works have commenced with the service diversions along Broadway. Service utility trench work has been progressed across both Derwent Drive and Broadway respectively. Due to Highways England restrictions, namely not allowing the works to disrupt daytime traffic, these works had to be carried out during night working.

Next Stage of the works Feb 2020

Earthworks operations will be strategically placed on hold for a while to allow ongoing settlement, following this the remaining Earthwork upfill will then be completed in early March 2020 as planned.

Progression of the necessary service diversions on the west side of Broadway will be installed to the new junction layout.

Permanent and temporary kerbing / edgings will be installed to form the new footpath and road layout.

Further formation on the Spine road will progress next month continuing on from the previous phases starting with the SW drainage installation.
