Commencement of Works on Phase 2B of the Broadway Green Development; New Link Road Construction, Foxdenton Lane to Broadway

May 1, 2019

This phase of the development involves the “final leg” of the new Link Road construction between the B6189 Foxdenton Lane and the A663 Broadway.

In addition to the continuation of the link road construction this phase also includes some significant civil engineering associated with the decommissioning of Crossley Bridge, which is the old railway bridge located north west of the Ancora Restaurant, this phase also includes the construction of a new signalised junction on Broadway.

The works will be undertaken over the next 18 months, commencing with enabling works within the development site.

During the first 8 months all works will take place within the development site without any substantial disruption to Broadway. However, following this initial period there will be a need to undertake works that will impose restrictions to Broadway.

The initial works  within the development site which are ongoing and will be taking place for the few months or so  includes general site clearance, preliminary excavation works ,  creation of temporary routes for onsite vehicles, formation of platforms for piling works , installation of test piles  either under  the existing bridge and /or  to the West of the bridge – all in preparation of the commencement of the main  piling works that are scheduled to commence in late April  / early May 2019

Further information will be posted prior to works commencing on the  Broadway highway  providing further information, including timings and restrictions.

At that time such information will include outline details of arrangements for pedestrian and traffic management that have been developed in accordance with the requirements of Highways England and Oldham Metropolitan Council.
